A Life Suspended: Cover Reveal!

A Life Suspended: A Mother and Son’s Story of Autism, Extinction Bursts, and Living a Resilient Life.

It’s a big day. Today I reveal the gorgeous cover created by Kate Conway of my memoir, A Life Suspended. I took this photo of Jack jumping into a creek near our Cape Cod home. Being in and on the water are among our favorite things to do. Jack and his siblings grew up here. We are blessed to have nature’s playground at our fingertips. On the day in question, I had to take a quite a few pictures to capture this photograph. Truth be told I believe there were promises of ice cream involved. But after a while, I got it! And once I took the shot, I knew. I didn’t even have to look at my phone. I felt it in my core.

Much of my creative process is intuitive. It begins as a curiosity and moves into an intention. What begins as a stirring within me, develops into something else. It teaches me. It brings me to places I never imagined. At times it has brought me to my knees. As I sit and write this, I am beyond grateful for this creative life that is driven by curiosity and wonder. I am grateful Jack hung in for the shot, and to Kate who took my photo and made pure magic. I am grateful to all of you, who have given me their love and support as I wrote A Life Suspended. The ones who listened to me, watched me wrestle with it, and who cheered me on when I needed it. You are my heart. Thank you.

It’s tremendously humble to be here now. To see this project come to fruition. I had a dream to share my experience, strength and hope with others. To inspire and educate. To hold a light when times felt dark. To “pay back” what was gifted to me when my world was crumbling. So, yes, it’s personal. This story. This cover. These words. But, as I get closer to the publication date, I feel the pull…The pull of letting go. This is my story to tell, but it is for you.

Much love and gratitude ~ Nicole
